History
Before 2005, I had never sewn anything in my life–not even a pants tear. However, I have always had a love for playing dress-up; my mother made me a Halloween costume every year, painstakingly by hand. In June or July of 2005, I found out I would be attending my first anime convention: Anime Weekend Atlanta! I set to work on my first costume, Sailor Star Healer from Sailor Moon (I was in way over my head.) Although the costume was absolutely awful, I was hooked on cosplay. I got my first sewing machine a few months before my second con, A-Kon 2006. I was able to teach myself a few of the basics in order to make a few new costumes. My sister helped, too, as she was currently taking a sewing class in high school. Since then, I’ve watched videos and read tutorials on various sewing techniques and tricks, hoping to improve my craft. Sewing is the greatest stress reliever for me, and I can honestly say I cannot imagine life without my sewing machine!
